Louisiana Tech’s Mike Coleman and Idaho’s James Rogan have been named Western Athletic Conference Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for Feb. 9-15.
Coleman, a senior from Ruston, La. (Ruston HS), finished fifth in the 60 meter dash with a time of 6.86 against some of the top talent in the country at the Texas A&M Invitational last weekend. His preliminary time of 6.84 is the best in the WAC so far this season. He also posted another conference-best in the 200 meters, running a 21.56. The senior finished out his day with a sixth-place finish as he helped the 4x400 relay team to a time of 3:12.07, a mark that broke the school’s 20-year-old record and also tops the WAC’s performance list.
Rogan, a senior from Eagle, Idaho (Eagle HS), took third overall in the men’s shot put at the Husky Classic with a WAC-leading and personal-best throw of 17.10m (56-1.25) in the event. He also competed in the weight throw and took 11th overall with a throw of 17.32m (56-10). His throw is nearly six inches better than his previous personal best and three feet better than his previous season-high of 16.20m (53-1.75).
