DENVER ? Utah State guard Danyelle Snelgro has been named the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 2-8. This is the first WAC Player of the Week honor for Snelgro.
The senior from Altadena, Calif., finished with a career-high 29 points on 9-of-19 shooting to go along with four assists and three steals in the Aggies’ 63-52 win over first-place Nevada. The win was Utah State’s first ever in Reno and knocked the Wolf Pack out of the top spot in the WAC.
Other nominees included: Jamia Malone of Boise State averaged 15.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists as the Broncos went 2-0 on the week ... Fresno State’s Jaleesa Ross averaged 16.0 points on 75 percent shooting in a pair of wins ... Tara Hittle of Hawai?i finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds in a win over San Jose State ... Idaho’s Derisa Taleni averaged 19.5 points and 6.5 rebounds as the team went 1-1 on the week ... Danisha Corbett of New Mexico State averaged 18.0 points and 4.5 rebounds on the week.
