DENVER ? Utah State’s Gary Wilkinson has been named the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 2-8. The honor marks the third WAC Player of the Week award this season for Wilkinson.
Wilkinson, a senior from South Jordan, Utah (Salt Lake CC), led the Aggies to a pair of home wins over New Mexico State and Louisiana Tech. Against NMSU, Wilkinson recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 18 points and 11 rebounds as he was a perfect 5-of-5 from the field and 8-of-8 from the free throw line. He then scored 16 points on 4-of-8 shooting, including an 8-of-9 effort at the free throw line against Louisiana Tech.
On the week, Wilkinson averaged 17.0 points per game and shot 69.2 percent (9-of-13) from the field. He was 94.1 percent (16-of-17) from the free throw line and averaged 8.0 rebounds per game.
