DENVER - Fresno State's Todd Angel and Idaho's Kayla Mortellaro have been named the Western Athletic Conference Golfers of the Week for March 9-15.
Angel, a junior from Clovis, Calif. (Clovis HS), helped the Bulldogs finish in second place in the 19-team Fresno State Lexus Golf Classic last week. The field included five WAC schools. Angel tied for second place among all individuals with a two-under par 214 (69-73-72). He was just two strokes behind the leader.
Mortellaro, a freshman from Phoenix, Ariz. (Mesa Distance Learning), finished in a tie for eighth at the UNLV Spring Rebel Invitational played at Boulder Creek, March 9-11. Mortellaro was one-under par in the final two rounds and finished with a four-over par 220 (77-72-71) for the tournament, six strokes behind the winner.
The other men's nomination was Utah State sophomore Tyson McFarland.
The other women's nominations were Fresno State junior Lindi Covarrubias and New Mexico State senior Pang Chanachai.
