DENVER ?Utah State’s Nick Karren and Clint Silcock have been named Western Athletic Conference Men’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for March 16-22.
Karren, a senior from Duchesne, Utah (Duchesne HS), performed well at the Willie Wilson Invitational in Tucson, Ariz., as he posted an NCAA regional qualifying mark for the Aggie men. His 400m hurdles time clocked in at 50.78, which is a new WAC-best time. Karren also won the 400m, breaking the tape in 47.67.
Silcock, a sophomore from Salmon, Idaho (Butte HS), picked up in the outdoor season right where he left off in indoors, winning the high jump at the Willie Wilson Invitational Tucson, Ariz. He cleared 6-10.75 (2.10m), a regional qualifying height. Last week he earned All-American honors in the high jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
