DENVER ? Fresno State’s Latrisha Jordan and Kayla Xavier have been named Western Athletic Conference Women’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for March 16-22.

Jordan, a freshman from Ceres, Calif. (Central Valley HS), set the all-time Fresno State record in the 400-meter hurdles at the USC Trojan Invitational last weekend. Jordan ran to a first-place finish with a time of 58.88, a mark that is currently the best in the WAC by more than 1.5 seconds. Her performance garnered an NCAA Regional Qualifying mark in just the second meet of the season. Jordan also competed in the 4x400 relay that finished second with a time of 3:43.48.

Xavier, a sophomore from Modesto, Calif. (Johansen HS), became just the third Bulldog in Fresno State history to toss the shot put over 50 feet as she recorded a 50-5.25 (15.37m), good for second place at the USC Invitational.  The mark is third on the all-time Fresno State career list. The toss also puts the sophomore ahead of Louisiana Tech’s Nadia Alexander for the top spot in the WAC standings. Xavier also took fifth place in the hammer throw (173-7; 52.92m) and finished 11th in the discus (139-0; 42.38m).

Other track nominees included: Nevada’s Analisa Serrano, New Mexico State's Leah Benton and Utah State’s Erin Stratton.

Other field nominees included: New Mexico State's Jordan Veney and Utah State’s Krista Larson.
