DENVER - Louisiana Tech's Matt Harvey and San Jose State's Erica Moston have been named the Western Athletic Conference Golfers of the Week for March 23-29.
Harvey, a junior from Georgetown, Texas (Georgetown HS), tied for fifth place at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate, March 22-24. Harvey shot a seven-over par 223 (79-73-71) to steadily move up the leaderboard each day. His final round of 71 was tied for the best of the day by the field. Louisiana Tech finished seventh in the 16-team field that also included New Mexico State.
Moston, a senior from Belmont, Calif. (Notre Dame HS), won her first individual title since the 2007 WAC Championship with a seven-under par 209 (72-68-69) at the Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz., March 28-29. The 209 was a career-best and she led the tournament field with 14 birdies. Her effort also helped San Jose State win its third consecutive team title. Moston was honored as the Golfweek Women's Player of the Week as well.
The other men's nominations were Idaho freshman Jarred Bossio and Utah State sophomore Tyson McFarland.
The other women's nomination was New Mexico State junior Maggie Murphy.
