Fresno State 67, Utah State 54

LOGAN, Utah ? For the second straight year, Fresno State clinched a share of the regular-season title after defeating Utah State 67-54 Saturday afternoon at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. Fresno State is now 21-8 overall and finished WAC play with a 12-4 mark, while Utah State dropped to 15-14 overall and 9-7 in conference play.

Fresno State shot 54 percent from the field and held Utah State to 28 percent shooting. Both teams pulled down 38 boards.

Joh-Teena Filipe led four Bulldogs in double figures with 15 points. Hayley Munro had 13 points, while Jaleesa Ross had 11 and LaShay Fears added 10. Ross had a game-high eight rebounds and added six assists.

Ana Pares led the Aggies with 13 points.


Louisiana Tech 78, New Mexico State 69

LAS CRUCES, N.M. ? Louisiana Tech, which less than a month ago was in fifth place in the WAC standings, won its seventh-straight game, a 78-69 victory at New Mexico State, to claim a share of the regular-season title Saturday night. With the win,

The Techsters shot 38 percent from the field, 33 percent from three-point range and 71 percent from the free throw line. The Aggies, meanwhile, connected on 35 percent from the floor, 32 percent from downtown and 67 percent from the charity stripe. Louisiana Tech out-rebounded NMSU 55-42.

Shanavia Dowdell led all players with 29 points and 17 rebounds for her 16th double-double of the season. Whitney Jones added 16 points and seven assists.

Madison Spence paced the Aggies with 26 points, while Danisha Corbett added 11. Erica Sanchez grabbed 10 boards.


Nevada 75, Hawai?i 57

RENO, Nev. ? Nevada used balanced scoring to down Hawai`i 75-57 on Senior Day Saturday afternoon at Lawlor Events Center.  Nine of the 13 players to see time for Nevada scored at least five points for the Pack.

With the win, Nevada finishes the regular season 16-13 overall and 10-6 in the WAC, while Hawai`i falls to 7-22 overall and 4-12 in the WAC. With the win, the Pack also tied the school record for most conference wins in a season. The 2006-07 and 1997-98 teams also finished the conference season with 10 wins.

As a team, the Pack shot 37 percent (22-of-60) from the floor and 82 percent (27-of-33) from the free throw line. Hawai`i finished the game shooting 38 percent (18-of-47) from the floor. Nevada out-rebounded Hawai`i 43-30 marking the 20th time this season Nevada has either out-rebounded or tied its opponent in rebounding.

Cherlanda Franklin led the Pack with 14 points and 10 rebounds for her third career double-double.

Megan Tinnin led the Rainbow Wahine with 15 points and eight rebounds. Breanna Arbuckle added 10 points.


Idaho 58, Boise State 56

BOISE, Idaho ? For the first time since 2003, Idaho defeated Boise State in Boise, edging the Broncos 58-56 Saturday night. With the win, the Vandals improve to 13-14 overall and 10-6 in the WAC. Boise State slips to 16-14 overall and 9-7 in WAC play.

The third-place finish is the highest-ever for the Vandal women, while the 10 conference wins are also the most for a single season.

Idaho shot 35 percent from the field, 30 percent from long range and 50 percent from the free throw line on the game. Boise State connected on 39 percent from the field, 21 percent from downtown and 50 percent from the charity stripe. The Broncos out-rebounded the Vandals 45-35, but committed 24 turnovers to Idaho's 15.

Yinka Olorunnife posted her 10th double-double of the season with 10 points and 14 rebounds, along with a career-high six steals. Derisa Taleni scored a game-high 19 points, along with seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. Shaena Kuehu dropped in 12 points, grabbed nine boards, dished three assists and nabbed three steals.

Heather Pilcher led Boise State with 15 points and four steals. Jenna Galassi and Janie Bos both posted double-doubles. Galassi had 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Bos tallied 10 points and 13 boards.
