DENVER ? Louisiana Tech’s Billy Walker and Idaho’s James Rogan have been named Western Athletic Conference Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for April 13-19.
Walker, a sophomore from Lancaster, Texas (Lancaster HS), finished fifth in the 110m hurdles at the Alumni Gold Invitational at LSU last weekend. His time of 14.07 is a regional qualifying mark and is tops in the WAC this season.
Rogan, a junior from Eagle, Idaho (Eagle HS), moved into second all-time in the Idaho record books in the hammer throw last Saturday with an eight-foot, six-inch personal-best throw of 211-8 (64.53m). He took third overall and was tops among collegiate competitors in the Olympic Development section of the hammer at the Mt. SAC Relays. He also took second just a couple hours later in the hammer at the Beach Invitational with a throw of 197-9 (60.28m).
Other track nominees included: Boise State’s Eric Capelle, Fresno State’s Val-Pierre Dai’Re, Idaho’s Paul Dittmer, Utah State’s Nick Karren.
