DENVER ? Louisiana Tech’s Antoinette Cobb and Nadia Alexander have been named Western Athletic Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for April 20-26.
Cobb, a junior from Weyanoke, La. (West Feliciana HS), finished fourth in the 100m hurdles at the Drake Relays with a regional qualifying time of 13.64 seconds. Her time of 13.63 seconds is currently best in the WAC. The announcement marks the first time this season Cobb has been named WAC Athlete of the Week.
Alexander, a senior from Kingston, Jamaica (St. Hugh’s HS), won the shot put at the Penn Relays with a regional qualifying throw of 54’ 8.75” which is tops in the conference. The throw also set a new school record in the shot put at LA Tech. Alexander held the previous record at 54’ 6.75”. It is the first time this year she has been awarded the WAC weekly honor.
Other track nominees: Boise State’s KAyleen McDowell, Fresno State’s Latrisha Jordan, Idaho’s Lauren Schaffer, Nevada’s Analisa Serrano and Utah State’s Krista Larson.
