New Mexico State and Reid Win 2009 Club Glove WAC Men's Golf Championships

HENDERSON, NEV. -- New Mexico State defended its title at the Club Glove WAC Men's Golf Championship at Rio Secco Golf Club in Henderson, Nev.  The Aggies carded a three round total of 870 to win by one stroke over Fresno State.  It is their third WAC title in their four years in the conference.

New Mexico State senior Travis Reid won the individual title after shooting a three-under par 69 in the final round to finish at seven-under 209.  Fresno State's Grant Doverspike was second (212), followed by San Jose State freshman Jay Myers (215).

In the rest of the team competition, Fresno State was second (871), followed by Idaho (876), Utah State (891), Nevada (892), San Jose State (895), Louisiana Tech (906), Boise State (925) and Hawai'i (945).

Also announced today were the all-WAC teams and top awards.

Fresno State junior Grant Doverspike was voted the WAC's Player of the Year by the nine head coaches. Freshman of the year honors went to Idaho's Jarred Bossio and Coach of the Year honors went to New Mexico State's Scott Lieberwirth.
