DENVER ? Utah State’s James Allred and Clint Silcock have been named Western Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for May 4 ? 10.

Allred, a sophomore from Helena, Montana (Capital HS), bested his WAC-best time in the 800m with a new PR and NCAA regional qualifying time of 1:50.20. His time is fifth-fastest in Utah State school history. The sophomore has now steadily improved his time in the event at each meet of the season, beginning with a 1:53.80 at the Oregon Invitational April 4 and progressively bettering his time to his current PR of 1:50.20 that he set at the Utah Twilight meet this week. This marks the second time this season he has been named WAC Track Athlete of the Week.

Silcock, a sophomore from Salmon, Idaho (Butte HS), jumped to a NCAA regional qualifying mark in the high jump clearing 7-00.75 (2.15m) on Tuesday at the Utah Twilight in Salt Lake City. Silcock’s mark is the top mark in the WAC and is good for fourth in Utah State school history. This is the third time this season the sophomore has garnered the WAC weekly award.

Other track nominees included: Idaho’s Sam Michener.
