DENVER ? Nevada’s Analisa Serrano and Nicole Williams have been named Western Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for May 4 ? 10.
Serrano, a senior from Sparks, Nev. (Reed HS), ran to a NCAA regional qualifying time in the 100m hurdles this weekend at the Sacramento State Open. Her time of 13.75 ranks second in the WAC and stands as the second-fastest time in Nevada history. Serrano is just one of two WAC athletes to meet the regional standard in the event. Her performance marks the fourth time she has run under the regional qualifying and personal best marks. This is the first time this outdoor season the senior has won the WAC weekly award.
Williams, a sophomore from Sacramento, Calif. (Laguna Creek HS), won the high jump at the Sacramento State open with a mark of 5 ? 8.75 (1.75m) this weekend. This marks the second time this year she has jumped at or above the regional qualifying mark. Williams currently ranks third in the WAC with a jump of 1.76m, a mark that she hit back in early April. This marks the first time this season the sophomore has won the WAC Track Athlete of the Week honor.
