Fresno State 77, New Mexico State 67
Fresno State beat New Mexico State 77-67 Wednesday at the Pan American Center. The win improves the Bulldogs record to 12-5 and 3-0 in WAC play, while the Aggies dropped to 12-5 and 2-1 in the conference.
The Bulldogs shot 45 percent from the field and out-rebounded New Mexico State 45-34. New Mexico State shot 39 percent from the field.
Jaleesa Ross scored 18 points and grabbed a team-best nine rebounds to go along with four assists, two steals and two blocks. Hayley Munro had 12 points and five rebounds, while LaShay Fears had 10 points and four boards.
Crystal Boyd scored a career high 26 points and notched her fifth double-double of the season with 11 rebounds to pace the Aggies.
Nevada 69, Utah State 58
Nevada remained perfect in WAC play with a 69-58 win at Utah State
Wednesday night in Logan. With the win, Nevada improved to 9-8 on the
year and 3-0 in the WAC, while Utah State fell to 10-6 overall and 2-1
in the WAC.
Nevada shot 41 percent (21-of-51) from the floor for the game while
Utah State shot 36 percent (21-of-58). The Pack out-rebounded the
Aggies 39-32, marking the 10th straight game the Pack has out-rebounded
it opponent.
Johnna Ward led Nevada with 18 points, while Nicole Williams and Tahnee
Robinson each added 11 and Shavon Moore scored 10. Moore and Robinson
each added seven boards.
Lydia Whitehead led USU with 13 points, while Amber White tossed in 12 and LaCale Pringle-Buchanan came off the bench to net 11.
Hawai'i 62, Idaho 52
Breanna Arbuckle scored a career-high 18 points, leading to Hawai'i’s 62-52 victory over Idaho Wednesday night at the Stan Sheriff Center. The Rainbow Wahine improve to 7-9 overall and 1-2 in WAC play, while Idaho falls to 2-13 overall and 0-2 in conference action.
Keisha Kanekoa had 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists and Julita Bungaite added nine points coming off the bench.
Idaho shot 25 percent from the field on the game, compared to the 38 percent of the Rainbow Wahine. UH also had 10 blocked shots, including four from Bungaite and three from Arbuckle.
The Vandals were led by Shaena-Lyn Kuehu with 13 points, while Yinka Olorunnife pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.
Louisiana Tech 92, San Jose State 48
Shanavia Dowdell scored 18 points and Adrienne Johnson added 16 to lead Louisiana Tech to a 92-48 win over San Jose State Wednesday night at The Events Center. With the win, the Techsters improve to 10-4 overall and 1-1 in WAC play, while the Spartans fall to 4-12 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
For the game, Tech hit 52 percent (35-of-68) of its field goals and 10-of-22 from three-point range while holding SJSU to only 34 percent (21-of-61) from the field.
Johnson hit two free throws at the 8:30 mark of the second stanza to become the 39th Lady Techster to ever score 1,000 points in a career. She also pulled down her 500th career rebound in the game.
Whitney Jones added 13 points, while Brietta Thomas chipped in with 11 points.
Britney Bradley led the Spartans with 12 points while Marnesha Hall added 10 points. Tech held SJSU's leading scorer Chasity Shavers to only two points on 1-of-7 shooting.
