Hawai'i 69, Utah State 56
Hawai’i used a balanced scoring attack to close its three-game homestand with a 69-56 victory over Utah State Monday at the Stan Sheriff Center.
With the win, the Rainbow Wahine improve to 8-10 overall and 2-3 in WAC play with the victory. Utah State fell to 10-8 overall and 2-3 in conference play.
Hawai'i out-rebounded the Aggies 44-35, including 25-12 in the second half. The Rainbow Wahine shot 41 percent from the field (23-of-56) from the field, 42 percent from downtown (5-of-12) and 58 percent from the free throw line (18-of-31) on the game. The Aggies shot 34 percent from the field (21-of-61), 24 percent from three-point range (5-of-21) and 64 percent from the charity stripe (9-of-14).
UH was led by Leilani Galdones, who recorded her first career double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Dita Liepkalne added 12 points and eight rebounds, and Breanna Arbuckle and Allie Patterson each had 11 points.
Utah State was led by Lydia Whitehead, who posted her fourth double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Alice Coddington had a team-high 13 points, while Nicole Johnson pulled down a career-high 12 rebounds.
