DENVER - Boise State's Amber
Boucher and Fresno State's Stacey Luke were named the Verizon Wireless Western
Athletic Conference swimmer and diver of the week, respectively, for Jan. 18-24.
Boucher, a sophomore
from Keizer, Ore. (McNary HS), swam season bests in both the 100-yard butterfly
and 50 free in helping the Broncos to a dual meet win over in-state rival Idaho
on Saturday. Boucher's time of 23.38 in
the 50 free is the fastest by any WAC swimmer this year. She later broke her own school-record with a
time of 55.59 in the 100 fly. Boucher
was also a member of both the 200 medley and 400 free winning relays.
Luke, a freshman
from Kenmore, Wash. (Inglemoor HS), competed at the Beach Cup in Los Angeles on
Saturday and won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. She scored a career-high 250.70 on the
1-meter to win by 24 points and a 252.10 on the 3-meter to win by 39 points in
dominating both boards.
