DENVER – New Mexico State senior outside hitter Kayleigh Giddens has been named Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 4-10. This is the second WAC Player of the Week honor of the season for Giddens and the fourth of her career.

The Lubbock, Texas, native led the Aggies to road wins at San Jose State and Fresno State. She hit .357 with 6.43 kills, 3.00 digs, 0.57 service aces and 7.50 points per set. Against the Spartans, she tallied 20 kills, seven digs and two service aces. Giddens followed it up with her WAC-leading eighth double-double of the season at Fresno State, tying her career high with 25 kills and 14 digs. She also added four blocks and two service aces. Giddens currently ranks in the Top 10 nationally in kills per set.

Other nominees included: Sadie Maughan of Boise State averaged 2.46 and 1.54 blocks as the Broncos went 2-1 last week … Fresno State’s Brianna Clarke averaged 2.43 kills and 1.14 blocks as the Bulldogs went 1-1 last week … Kelsey Taylor of Idaho averaged 2.54 kills on .481 hitting and 1.45 blocks as the Vandals 2-1 on the week … Louisiana Tech’s Bianca Bin averaged 10.50 assists on the week … Kylie Harrington of Nevada averaged 4.00 kills and 2.75 digs per set as the Wolf Pack went 1-1 last week … San Jose State’s Alex Akana averaged 2.78 kills in three matches last week … Liz McArthur of Utah State averaged 4.44 kills, 2.22 digs and 0.78 service aces as the Aggies went 1-1 on the week.
