San Jose State 3, Utah State 1
San Jose State defeated Utah State in four sets (25-23, 25-20, 13-25, 25-16) Saturday night in Logan. With the win, the Spartans improve to 7-10 overall and 2-2 in WAC play. The Aggies fall to 13-3 on the year and 1-2 in the conference.
The Spartans hit .205 on the match with 53 kills, 47 assists, six service aces, 57 digs and 11 blocks. The Aggies hit .211 with 48 kills, 46 assists, five service aces, 55 digs and 9.5 blocks.
Hanah Blume led San Jose State with a double-double of 15 kills and 16 digs, while Brianna Amian added 11 kills. Caitlin Andrade dished out 39 assists to go with eight digs.
Utah State's Liz McArthur led all players with 19 kills, while Christine Morrill had a match-high 20 digs.
Idaho 3, Boise State 1
More than 1,000 fans in Memorial Gym witnessed the Vandals' 50th all-time win over Boise State Saturday night, a 3-1 (25-12, 16-25, 25-23, 27-25) victory. With the win, Idaho improves to 6-7 on the season and 2-2 in WAC play, while Boise State falls to 14-4 on the year, and 2-2 in the WAC.
The Vandals hit .212 for the match, while the Broncos hit .210. Idaho held a 14-7 advantage in total blocks and a 57-54 advantage in digs. Boise State had 59 kills, while Idaho had 48, but six service aces and six fewer attack errors helped Idaho edge the Broncos.
Allison Walker led the Vandals with 17 kills and added six digs and three blocks. Jennifer Feicht finished the match with 37 assists, eight digs, three kills and two blocks.
Boise State was led by Alisha Young with 18 kills, Sadie Maughan with 14 and Cailin Fellows with 12.
Nevada 3, Fresno State 1
Wearing pink to bring awareness of breast cancer and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Nevada held on for a 3-1 (25-16, 25-22, 31-29, 28-26) WAC victory over Fresno State at the Virginia Street Gym Saturday night. With the win, the Pack improves to 8-8 on the season and 2-1 in WAC play. The Bulldogs drop to 6-9 on the year and 1-3 in conference play.
Nevada hit .286 on the night and FS .209. The Bulldogs totaled 13 blocks and the Wolf Pack seven.
Kylie Harrington and Lindsay Baldwin led four players in double figures with 17 kills each. Grace Axno finished with 15 kills and Erin Garvey added 10. Anxo added 11 digs to post her second double-double of the season. Tatiana Santiago dished out a match-high 59 assists, while libero Nicole Link led the team with 13 digs.
Marissa Brand had a match-high 23 kills for Fresno State, while Brianna Clark had 13 and Lauren Berger added 11. Brand had a match-high 16 digs to post a double-double. Setter Erin Stock had 47 assists and libero Kelly Mason finished with 14 digs.
Louisiana Tech 3, Grambling 0
Louisiana Tech made quick work of Grambling State Saturday afternoon (25-10, 25-18, 25-18) at Memorial Gymnasium to improve its record to 20-1 all-time against the Lady Tigers.
The Lady Techsters out-hit Grambling State .286 to .000 on the match and totaled seven service aces.
Taylor Fritz, Jennifer Goodwin and Clara Vido all tallied seven kills to lead the Lady Techsters. Lori Hunsucker had 14 digs and Bianca Bin added 29 assists.
