DENVER – Boise State senior middle blocker Alisha Young has been named Verizon Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 8-14. This is the first WAC Player of the Week honor of her career.
Young, from American Fork, Utah (American Fork HS), led the Broncos to a pair of shutout victories over Louisiana Tech and New Mexico State last week. Young led Boise State as the only double-digit kills scorer in both matches. She posted 10 kills against Louisiana Tech, helping her surpass the 1,000-career kills mark. Young then had 11 kills, two digs and five blocks in the win over New Mexico State. On the week, Young posted 21 kills (3.50 kps) with a .356 hitting percentage. She also tallied four assists, two service aces, four digs and 10 blocks.
Other nominees included: Kelly Mason of Fresno State averaged 5.2 digs per set … Chanteal Satele averaged 3.12 kills while hitting .352 in three road wins for Hawai‘i last week … Idaho’s Allison Walker had double-doubles in both matches for Idaho … Clara Vido of Louisiana Tech averaged 4.12 kills while picking up her fifth double-double of the season … Nevada’s Nicole Link averaged 4.00 kills per set and collected 24 digs in a pair of matches … New Mexico State’s Kayleigh Giddens had 30 kills and 24 digs over two matches … Utah State’s Josselyn White had 10 kills in a win against Nevada.
