DENVER - Idaho post Yinka Olorunnife has been named the Verizon Western
Athletic Conference women's basketball player of the week for Nov. 15-21.
Olorunnife, a senior from Windsor, Canada (National
Elite Development), recorded two double-doubles to average 19.0 points and 11.0
rebounds in a pair of wins for the Vandals.
On Wednesday, she had 21 points on 8-of-10 shooting and grabbed 10
rebounds against Eastern Washington.
Saturday at UC Santa Barbara, Olorunnife scored 17 points and hauled in
12 rebounds. She was 4-of-9 from
three-point range in the double overtime victory. For the week, she shot 13-of-26 from the
field, including 7-of-13 from behind the arc.
The award is the second for Olorunnife in
her career and first for a Vandal player this season.
Others nominated included: junior guard
Kati Isham, Boise State; senior forward Hayley Munro, Fresno State; junior
forward Breanna Arbuckle, Hawai'I; senior forward Adrienne Johnson, Louisiana
Tech; senior guard Madison Spence, New Mexico State; and junior forward Ashlee
