DENVER – Idaho freshman outside hitter Allison Walker has been named Verizon Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 1-7. This is the first WAC Player of the Week honor of her career.

Walker, from Othello, Wash. (Othello HS), led the Vandals to a pair of five-set road victories last week over Nevada and Utah State. Walker had a double-double in Idaho’s win at Utah State, compiling career-highs of 27 kills and five blocks with 11 digs. She had 22 kills, four digs and three blocks in the victory at Nevada. On the week, Walker tallied 49 kills with a .284 hitting percentage. She averaged 4.9 kills, 1.5 digs and 5.4 points per set.

Other nominees included: Alisha Young of Boise State averaged 3.57 kills as the Broncos went 1-1 … Fresno State’s Brianna Clarke had 24 kills in seven sets … Kanani Danielson led Hawai‘i with 2.75 kills and 3.75 digs per set over to matches … Nevada’s Kylie Harrington recorded 37 kills in two matches … Jennah DeVries led New Mexico State with 104 assists and 21 digs in a pair of wins … Utah State’s Katie Astle hit .630 with 18 kills over two matches.
