TUCSON, Ariz.- Fresno State first baseman Jordan Ribera and Hawai‘i second baseman Kolten Wong have been named to the Louisville Slugger Preseason All-America team, as selected by the writers of Collegiate Baseball. Both players received second team honors.
Ribera finished his junior campaign last season with 27 home runs, which ties him with Tom Mendonca for second place in Bulldog history in homers in a single season and he still leads the nation. Ribera started all 63 games and hit .343 with 20 doubles, two triples and a team-high 69 RBIs. He had a 17-game hitting streak in the middle of the season from April 17 to May 14.
In 2010, Wong ranked second on the team with a .357 batting average with a team-leading 89 hits and 57 runs scored. The Hilo, Hawai‘i native also had 15 doubles, seven home runs and 40 RBI in leading the Rainbows to their first Western Athletic Conference title since 1992 and first NCAA Regional appearance since 2006. In the WAC Tournament, Wong batted .500 with three home runs, a triple, a double, eight RBI and 10 runs scored in earning Most Outstanding Player honors.
