Verizon WAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

DENVER - Utah State forward Ashlee Brown has been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference women's basketball player of the week for Nov. 29-December 5.
 
Brown, a junior from Chandler, Ariz. (UC Santa Barbara), averaged 18.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists in three wins for the Aggies last week.  She opened the week last Monday with eight points, six rebounds and six assists versus Southern Utah.  On Wednesday, she had 20 points on 10-of-11 shooting from the field and eight rebounds in a win at Utah Valley State.  In an overtime victory at Northern Arizona on Saturday, Brown had a double-double with 26 points and 10 rebounds while adding three blocked shots.  For the week, she shot 20-of-33 (.606) from the field.  After a 0-4 start, the Aggies have now won four in a row, the WAC's longest active streak.

The award is the first for Brown in her career and first for an Aggie player this season.
 
Others nominated included: senior forward Janie Bos, Boise State; sophomore forward Rosie Moult, Fresno State; freshman forward Kamilah Jackson, Hawai'i; senior guard/forward Derisa Taleni, Idaho; senior guard Whitney Jones, Louisiana Tech; and junior forward Tabytha Wampler, New Mexico State.
