THIS WEEK IN WAC BASKETBALL - After a couple weeks of full schedules, a light slate of games are on tap as Hawai'i, Nevada and New Mexico State are off this week.  The featured game of the week has Fresno State (6-2) traveling to No. 2 Stanford on Sunday afternoon while  San Jose State travels to Colorado to take on future conference member Denver on Saturday.

WAC TEAMS POST .500 RECORD - WAC teams were 8-8 last week as Fresno State and Utah State were 2-0 and Louisiana Tech won its only game of the week at Mississippi State, 69-61.  The WAC is now 40-31 (.563) in non-conference games this season to be ranked 14th in conference RPI.  Three teams are in the top 100 led by Nevada (67), Louisiana Tech (74) and Idaho (78).

UTAH STATE'S BROWN NAMED VERIZON WIRELESS WAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Utah State forward Ashlee Brown, a junior from Chandler, Ariz. (UC Santa Barbara), averaged 18.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists in three wins for the Aggies last week.  She opened the week last Monday with eight points, six rebounds and six assists versus Southern Utah.  On Wednesday, she had 20 points on 10-of-11 shooting from the field and eight rebounds in a win at Utah Valley State.  In an overtime victory at Northern Arizona on Saturday, Brown had a double-double with 26 points and 10 rebounds while adding three blocked shots.  For the week, she shot 20-of-33 (.606) from the field.  After a 0-4 start, the Aggies have now won four in a row, the WAC's longest active streak.  The award is the first for Brown in her career and first for an Aggie player this season.

Others nominated:
Janie Bos, Sr., F, Boise State
- posted two double-doubles with 15.5 points and 13.5 rebounds in a split of two games last week.  She had 19 points and 13 rebounds in a loss versus Oregon and added 12 points and 14 rebounds in a win over Seattle.  She shot .722 from the field (13-18) and also dished out seven assists in the two games.
Rosie Moult, So., F, Fresno State
- averaged 14.0 points and 9.0 rebounds in a pair of wins.  She grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds versus Pacific and added a season-high 23 points versus TCU.
Kamilah Jackson, Fr., F, Hawai'i
- had two double-doubles on the road with a career-high 22 points and 10 rebounds to go along with five steals versus Portland State and then added 18 points and 18 rebounds versus Portland.  She was 18-of-27 (.667) from the field.
Derisa Taleni, Sr., G/F, Idaho
- had 17 points and nine rebounds in the game at Wyoming.
Whitney Jones, Sr., G, Louisiana Tech
- scored a season-high 20 points, including 18 in the second half, in the win at Mississippi State.  She was 4-of-6 from three-point range in the game.
Tabytha Wampler, Jr., F, New Mexico State
- averaged 18.0 points and 11.0 rebounds in a split of two games.  Against Cal State Northridge, she scored a career-high 26 points and added 14 rebounds.  She was 10-of-23 from the field and 16-of-20 from the free throw line in the two games.

BOISE STATE'S PRESNELL GETS WIN 500 - Boise State beat Seattle last Saturday, 66-57, to give Gordy Presnell his 500th win as a head coach.  He became the 71st coach in NCAA history to reach 500 victories and currently has a record of 500-189 (.726).  Earlier in the season, Presnell won his 100th game with the Broncos after Boise State beat Southern Utah, 91-80, on Nov. 16.

ESPNU TO TELEVISE FOUR GAMES IN 2010-11 SEASON - ESPNU will televise four WAC women's basketball games during the 2010-11 season. The network will televise three regular-season WAC women's basketball match-ups and will also air the championship game of the WAC Tournament, held at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.

ORLEANS ARENA IN LAS VEGAS TO HOST WAC TOURNAMENT - The 2011 WAC Basketball Tournament will be held March 9-12 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. It will feature a new format from year's past, rewarding teams based on regular-season success, giving the top two teams byes into the tournament semifinals. Under the format, the tournament will begin on Wednesday with two men's games and two women's games featuring the No. 5 seed against the No. 8 seed and No. 6 vs. No. 7. The winners then advance to Thursday's quarterfinal matchups to play the No. 4 and No. 3 seeds. The winners of those games then advance to Friday's semifinals against the top two seeds.
