DENVER - Nevada's Mengjiao Mi and Northern Arizona's Taryn Harris were named the Verizon Wireless Western Athletic Conference swimmer and diver of the week, respectively, for Feb. 1-7.
Mi, a freshman from Beijing, China (Beijing 222 HS), won three individual events and was a member of the winning 200-yard medley relay in Nevada's dual meet victory over Pacific on Saturday. She swam a 1:53.65 in the 200 free, 24.41 in the 50 free and 53.15 in the 100 free in just her second meet since joining the Wolf Pack at the semester.
Harris, a junior from East Wenatchee, Wash. (Southridge HS), won both diving events in a double dual meet against San Diego State and San Diego last week. She scored 273.30 points on the 1-meter and then 305.30 on the 3-meter to finish nearly 40 points ahead of the second place diver.
Other swimmers nominated: Heidi Gjoen, Fresno State; Cortnee Hanson, Idaho; Fi Connell, Northern Arizona; and Caitlin Macky, San Jose State.
Other divers nominated: Stacey Luke, Fresno State; and Amanda Morrow, Idaho.
