Utah State 66, San Jose State 46
Utah State's Nicole Johnson tied the school record for career blocks Thursday as the Aggies defeated San Jose State 66-46 at The Event Center.
With the win, Utah State improves to 12-11 overall and 4-6 in WAC action. San Jose State falls to 5-18 overall and 1-9 in conference play.
The Aggies shot 38 percent (22-of-58) from the field, 55 percent (6-of-11) from three-point range and 73 percent (16-of-22) from the charity stripe. The Spartans shot 41 percent (17-of-42) from the field, 14 percent (1-of-7) from three and 79 percent (11-of-14) from the free throw line.
At the 9:42 mark of the first half, Johnson cemented her spot in Utah State history with a block of Sayja Sumler's shot. The block tied her with Jessica Freeman for career blocks in the Aggie blue. Johnson now has 127 career blocks in her four-year USU career.
The Aggies were led by LaCale Pringle-Buchanan, who posted her first double-double in a USU uniform, scoring 10 points with 10 rebounds. Amber White led all scorers with 12 points.
San Jose State was led by Ashley Brown with 10 points and three assists. Samantha Marez and Shaunna Ridge both added nine points and five assists in the loss.
