DENVER – Fresno State’s Roxanne Sellick and Hawai‘i’s Sarah Saddleton have been named the Verizon Wireless Western Athletic Conference Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the week of February 8-14.
Sellick, a senior from Fresno, Calif. (Bullard HS), ran a career-best 4:51.55 to take second place in the one-mile run at the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash. on Saturday. She was a half second back of first place, beating out 34 competitors for the silver. The one-mile time is the fastest in the WAC this season.
Saddleton, a sophomore from Auckland, New Zealand (ACG Strathallan), won the high jump clearing 5-10 (1.78m) at the Washington Indoor Open in Seattle, Wash. on Sunday. The result is an NCAA Provisional mark and a new indoor personal best for Saddleton.
Other track nominees included: Boise State’s Raquel Jones, Idaho’s Maike Holthuijzen, Louisiana Tech’s Antoinette Cobb, Nevada’s Gina Deckard, New Mexico State’s Samantha Thompson and Utah State’s Erin Stratton.
Other field nominees included: Boise State’s Heidi Dorling, Fresno State’s Rosario Sanchez, Idaho’s Gabby Midles, Louisiana Tech’s Tiana Davis, Nevada’s Jalessa Jeffery and Utah State’s Spela Hus.
