Fresno State 69, Utah State 63
Fresno State earned a 69-63 win over Utah State at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum Wednesday night. With the win, the Bulldogs are 21-5 overall and 12-0 in WAC play and are riding a 13-game winning streak. Utah State falls to 12-13 on the year and 4-8 in the conference.
Fresno State shot 38 percent from the floor, while Utah State 41 percent. The Aggies out-rebounded the Bulldogs 42-36.
Jaleesa Ross scored a game-high 31 points. She hit four three-pointers and is now three away from breaking the school record of 272 treys. Ross also led the Bulldogs in rebounding with nine. Hayley Munro added 20 points.
Amber White paced the Aggies with 27 points, while Banna Diop finished with eight points and eight rebounds.
Louisiana Tech 62, New Mexico State 55
Adrienne Johnson and Shanavia Dowdell both recorded double-doubles as the Lady Techsters defeated New Mexico State 62-55 Wednesday night in WAC action at the Pan American Center.
With the win, Tech improves to 17-6 on the season and 8-3 in conference play. New Mexico State falls to 16-10 overall and 6-6 in the WAC.
LA Tech shot 36 percent (24-of-66) from the field, 20 percent (2-of-10) from three-point range and 55 percent (12-of-22) from the free throw line. NM State shot only 27 percent (20-of-74) from the field, 21 percent (5-of-24) from downtown and 67 percent (10-of-15) from the charity stripe. The Techsters edged the Aggies on the boards, 55-50.
Johnson scored a game-high 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while Dowdell added 14 points and grabbed 15 rebounds.
Tabytha Wampler paced the Aggies with her first career double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds. Crystal Boyd pulled down 14 boards, while Madison Spence added 12 points.
Boise State 73, Idaho 63
Boise State defeated instate rival Idaho 73-63 Wednesday night in Taco Bell Arena. With the win, the Broncos improve to 16-9 on the season and 5-6 in league play. Idaho falls to 6-18 overall and 4-7 in the WAC.
Boise State shot 41 percent (27-of-66) from the floor, 31 percent (4-of-13) from three-point range and 71 percent (15-of-21) from the free throw line. Idaho countered with 36 percent (20-of-55) from the field, 27 percent (7-of-26) from beyond the arc and 73 percent (16-of-22) from the charity stripe.
Rebounding was a tight battle with the Broncos holding a 39-38 advantage. Boise State dominated the paint, outscoring the Vandals 36 to 20 down low.
Four Broncos recorded double-figure points, led by Tasha Harris with a team-high 17 to go with six rebounds, seven assists and two steals. Rebecca Kepilino added 14 points and five rebounds, followed by Janie Bos’ double-double of 12 points and team-high 10 rebounds. Melissa Rima chipped in 12 points and four boards.
Idaho was led by Rachele Kloke, who scored a team-high 17 points, followed by Charlotte Otero with 16. Yinka Olorunnife added nine points and a team-high nine rebounds.
San Jose State 68, Hawai'i 61
Four Spartans scored in double figures as San Jose State defeated Hawai'i 68-61 Wednesday night. The win moves the Spartans to 6-19 overall and 2-10 in the WAC. Hawai'i drops to 9-17 on the year and 3-10 in conference play.
The Spartans shot 39 percent (23-of-59) from the field, 33 percent (7-of-21) from three-point range and 65 percent (15-of-32) from the free throw line. Hawai'i shot 43 percent (21-of-49) from the field, 15 percent (2-of-13) from downtown and 65 percent (17-of-26) from the charity stripe. San Jose State dominated the glass, out-rebounding Hawai'i 42-27.
Chasity Shavers led the Spartans with 16 points, followed by Marnesha Hall and Ashley Brown with season highs of 11 and 12, respectively. Sayja Sumler added 13 points.
Keisha Kanekoa paced the Rainbow Wahine with 22 points, followed by Breanna Arbuckle and Briauna Linton with 10 apiece.
