NM State Swimming and Diving Ninth in National Academic Rankings
LAS CRUCES, N.M.-The New Mexico State swimming and diving team ranks ninth nationally on the Division I Team Scholar All-America Fall 2009 list, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced Friday, Feb. 5.

The Aggies posted a team grade point average of 3.44. NM State was the only WAC school ranked in the top 25.

"It is again a huge honor to coach one of the most academically successful swimming and diving teams in the nation," head coach Rick Pratt said. "We have been on and near the top of this list every semester and this shows that our success is no fluke. Our team's G.P.A. is a reflection of the culture of our program. When our athletes focus on being great students, make smart social decisions, and are competing and training well, everything comes together for that ultimate experience and happiness.

"It also says a lot about the great academic support that our athletes are getting at New Mexico State and the hard work and determination that staff brings to work everyday," he said. "To be a great student is one thing, but to be a great student-athlete is an amazing accomplishment, we should be very proud of what is going on here at NM State."
