DENVER - Idaho's David Nuhn and San Jose State's Cristina Corpus have been named the Verizon Wireless Western Athletic Conference Golfers of the Week for March 8-14.
Nuhn, a sophomore from Moscow, Idaho (Lewis-Clark State College), had his best tournament as a Vandal, placing second in the rain-shortened Bandon Dunes Championship in Oregon last week. Nuhn finished one shot behind the winner with a nine-over par 151 (76-75). His score of 76 tied for the best in the field during the first round and helped the Vandals to a second-place finish among the seven competing teams.
Corpus, a senior from San Leandro, Calif. (San Leandro HS), won her second consecutive tournament after shooting a one-over par 217 (72-71-74) at the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational. Corpus won the tournament by two shots after finishing the first day one-under par following the first two rounds. Her effort helped the Spartans to a third place finish in the 16-team field that included three other WAC schools.
Other men nominated: John Baranco, Boise State; Jay Myers, San Jose State.
