DENVER – Louisiana Tech’s Antoinette Cobb and Hawai‘i‘s Amber Kaufman have been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the week of March 22-28.
Cobb, a senior from Weyanoke, La. (West Feliciana HS), won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.34 seconds at the LSU Relays in Baton Rouge, La. over the weekend. Cobb’s time of 13.34 is the second-fastest time ran by any female WAC athlete in 11 years, right behind the Louisiana Tech school record mark of 13.28 set by Doria Appleberry in 2005.
Kaufman, a junior from San Jose, Calif. (Branham HS), won the high jump competition at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif. on Friday with a jump of six feet, 3.25 inches (1.91 meters). Kaufman’s mark is first in the nation in the event, and ranks first in the WAC by over seven inches.
Other track nominees included: Boise State’s Shea Hanson, Fresno State’s Latrisha Jordan, Idaho’s Allix Lee-Painter, Nevada’s Christy Works and Utah State’s Kim Quinn
Other field nominees included: Boise State’s Sasa Kampic, Fresno State’s Rosario Sanchez, Idaho’s Ulrike Hartz, Louisiana Tech’s Brittany Guy and Nevada’s La Tijera Avery.
