Seeds Set For WAC Tournament

Top-seeded Fresno State will play No. 8-seed Hawai'i at noon (PT) in the first quarterfinal game of the WAC Tournament on Wednesday, March 10. Fourth-seeded Idaho squares off against No. 5-seed New Mexico State in the second game at 2:30 p.m. Host Nevada is the No. 3 seed and will face sixth-seeded Boise State at 6 p.m., followed by No. 2 Louisiana Tech vs. seventh-seeded Utah State at 8:30 p.m.

Boise State 74, Louisiana Tech 65

Boise State defeated Louisiana Tech 74-65 in the regular-season finale at Taco Bell Arena Saturday afternoon in Boise.

Boise State shot 39 percent (26-of-66) from the floor, 23 percent (3-of-13) from beyond the arc and 73 percent (19-of-26) from the free throw line. LA Tech hit 34 percent (24-of-70) from the floor, 33 percent (4-of-12) from three-point range and 50 percent (13-of-26) from the charity stripe. The Broncos out-rebounded the Lady Techsters 54-40.

Tasha Harris led Boise State in scoring with 18 points to move into the 10th place in the WAC record book with 1,732 career points. She converted 14-of-18 free throws to move into fifth place all-time in the WAC for free throws made. She also added seven rebounds and a team-high seven assists. Rebecca Kepilino finished with 13 points and nine rebounds, while Lauren Lenhardt finished with 13 points and seven rebounds. Janie Bos added her second double-double of the week with 10 points and team-high 12 rebounds.

La Tech was led by Shanavia Dowdell with 14 points and nine rebounds. Jasmine Bendolph added 14 points, Whitney Jones had 11 points and six rebounds, and Adrienne Johnson chipped in 10 points and eight boards.


Idaho 69, Nevada 62

Rachele Kloke poured in 26 points and Charlotte Otero added 18 as Idaho defeated Nevada, 69-62, in WAC play at the Lawlor Events Center Saturday.

With the win, the Vandals improve to 10-19 overall and 8-8 in the conference. Nevada drops to 16-13 overall and 10-6 in the WAC.

The Vandals shot 40 percent from the field, 38 percent from three-point range and 81 percent from the free throw line. Nevada connected on 42 percent from the field, 19 percent from downtown and 75 percent from the charity stripe. The Vandals edged the Wolf Pack on the boards, 35-33.

Bianca Cheever chipped in 15 points for Idaho, while Yinka Olorunnife pulled down a game-high 11 boards.

Nevada was led by Tahnee Robinson with 27 points and 10 rebounds for her first career double-double.


Utah State 53, Hawai'i 51
Tahara Williams hit a pair of free throws in the last few seconds to secure Utah State's 53-51 win over Hawai'i Saturday afternoon at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. With the win, the Aggies improve to 13-16 overall and 5-11 in WAC play. Hawai'i drops to 10-19 overall and 4-12 in the conference, losing seven of its last eight games.

Utah State shot 31 percent (18-of-58) from the field, 25 percent (5-of-20) from three-point range and 63 percent (12-of-19) at the free throw line. Hawai'i hit 38 percent (21-of-56) from the field, 33 percent (5-of-15) from beyond the arc and 63 percent (12-of-19) from the charity stripe. UH out-rebounded USU 44-36. The Aggies forced 21 Rainbow Wahine turnovers and committed 11 miscues, tying a season-low.

Banna Diop led USU with 11 points and eight rebounds. Hawai'i was led by Dita Liepkalne's 13 points.


New Mexico State 62, San Jose State 35
The Aggies outscored the Spartans 40-17 in the second half en route to a 62-35 win to close out regular-season play Saturday night. With the win, NM State improves to 18-12 overall and 8-8 in WAC play. San Jose State ends the season 6-23 overall and 2-14 in the conference.

The Aggies shot 26 percent (14-of-53) from the field, 40 percent (8-of-20) from three-point range and 74 percent (26-of-35) from the free throw line on the game. The Spartans connected on 28 percent (13-of-47) from the field and 47 percent (9-of-19) from the free throw line on the game. SJSU was 0-for-6 from downtown. The Spartans out-rebounded the Aggies, 47-36.

NM State had four players in double-digit scoring, led by Crystal Boyd with 12 points. Kaitlyn Soto and Jasmine Lowe added 11 apiece, while Madison Spence tallied 10. Tabytha Wampler pulled down a game-high 11 boards.

San Jose State was paced by Ashley Brown with eight points and Shaunna Ridge with eight rebounds.
