DENVER – Louisiana Tech’s Antoinette Cobb and Idaho’s Gabby Midles have been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the week of April 5-11.

Cobb, a senior from Weyanoke, La. (West Feliciana HS), won both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes at the Ole Miss Invitational on Saturday. Cobb’s career-best time of 11.84 seconds in the 100m dash ranks third in the WAC. In the 200m, Cobb ran 24.10 seconds which ranks second in the WAC this season. In addition to her standout performance on her own, Cobb ran the opening leg of the 4x100m relay that finished second only to SEC power Ole Miss with a time of 46.10, a mark that is 0.44 seconds faster than the fastest non-LA Tech time in the WAC this season.

Midles, a sophomore from Camas, Wash. (Camas HS), took second in the hammer throw at the WAR3 (Washington vs. Oregon/Idaho/Montana) Regional Duals in Spokane, Wash. over the weekend with a personal-best throw of 57.28 meters (187 feet, 11 inches). The throw puts her at first in the WAC by nearly four feet. The throw also improves her standing as second all-time at Idaho in the hammer.

Other field nominees included: Boise State’s BreAnna Craig, Fresno State’s Rosario Sanchez, Louisiana Tech’s Chelsea Hayes and Utah State’s Lindsey Spencer.
