DENVER - Nevada's Jared
Becher has been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week
for April 19-25.
Becher, a senior from
Reno, Nev. (Reno HS), won his first collegiate tournament with a 10-under par
206 (71-66-69) at the PING Golf Cougar Classic in Provo, Utah over the
weekend. His 66 in the second round tied
for his career best and helped the Wolf Pack to a fourth place finish in the
tournament, the best of any of the six WAC teams in the field. Becher leads the team and is second in the
WAC with a 71.47 stroke average entering next week's Club Glove WAC Men's Golf Championship
at Rio Secco Golf Club in Henderson, Nev.
