DENVER – Idaho’s Paul Dittmer and Utah State’s Clint Silcock have been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the week of March 29-April 4.
Dittmer, a junior from Hanstedt, Germany (Gymnasium Winsen), took fourth in a strong field in the 110-meter hurdles at the Texas Relays last week with a time of 13.87 seconds. The time is the best in the WAC and tied for tenth in the NCAA in the event this year. Dittmer is the only WAC runner to dip below 14 seconds in the event this season.
Silcock, a junior from Salmon, Idaho (Butte HS), won the men’s high jump at the BYU Cougar Invitational on Friday, clearing 2.17 meters (7 feet, 1.50 inches). Silcock’s mark is first in the WAC and ranked 12th in the nation in the event this season.
Other track nominees included: Boise State’s Paul Robertson, Fresno State’s Cody Alves, Louisiana Tech’s Jermaine Morris and Utah State’s Mike Pyrtle.
