Verizon WAC Men' Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week Announced

DENVER – Idaho’s Sam Michener and Jeremy Klas have been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the week of May 3 – May 9.

Michener, a senior from Gresham, Ore. (Barlow HS), won both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes at the Vandal Jamboree in Moscow, Idaho on Saturday. Michener posted personal-best times in both, winning the 200m in 21.53 seconds and the 100m in 10.67. The marks rank fifth and seventh in the WAC, respectively.

Klas, a sophomore from Moscow, Idaho (Moscow HS), overcame windy conditions to win the men’s pole vault with a height of 16 feet, 8.25 inches (5.09 meters) at the Vandal Jamboree on Saturday. The sophomore is the only WAC athlete to clear five meters in the event this year.
