New Mexico State 3, Louisiana Tech 0
The Aggies opened WAC play Thursday with a sweep at Louisiana Tech, 25-23, 25-20, 25-11. With the win, NM State is now 7-7 overall and 1-0 in the WAC, while the Lady Techsters move to 9-6 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

NM State hit .324 on the match and held LA Tech to just .049. The Aggies also more than doubled the Lady Techsters in kills (50-23).

The Aggies' Kayliegh Giddens tallied a match-high 24 kills on .476 hitting to go with 12 digs for her seventh double-double of the year.

Taylor Fritz led Louisiana Tech with 10 kills.


Idaho 3, Fresno State 0

Idaho opened WAC play with a sweep of Fresno State Thursday, winning 25-22, 25-22, 25-17. With the win, the Vandals improve to 6-6 on the season and 1-0 in the WAC. The Bulldogs fall to 5-7 on the year and 0-1 in WAC play.

Idaho out-hit Fresno State .242 to .178 on the match, though the Bulldogs tallied more kills (43-34).

Alicia Milo paced the Vandals with 10 kills and nine digs, just short of a double-double.

Brianna Clarke led Fresno State with a match-high 13 kills, while Marissa Brand finished with a double-double of 11 kills and 15 digs.


Hawai`i 3, Utah State 0
No. 5 Hawai`i swept through Utah State 26-24, 25-17, 25-17 in its WAC opener in front of a crowd of 5,655 at the Stan Sheriff Center Thursday. With the win, Hawai`i improves to 11-1 overall and 1-0 in WAC play. Utah State falls to 12-2 on the year and 0-1 in conference play.

Hawai`i hit .235 on the match, compared to the .108 of Utah State.

Kanani Danielson posted her fifth double-double of the season with 15 kills and 10 digs, while Brittany Hewitt hit .429 with seven kills and a match-high eight blocks.

Utah State was led by Liz McArthur with 12 kills and 11 digs.


Boise State 3, San Jose State 2
Boise State opened WAC play with a 3-2 (23-25, 25-21, 25-19, 22-25, 15-9) win at San Jose State Thursday. The Broncos, who played only their second five-set match of the season on Thursday, improve to 13-2 overall and 1-0 in WAC play, while SJSU falls to 5-9 overall and 0-1 in the WAC.

The Broncos hit .308 with 58 kills, 10 service aces, 58 digs and 28 blocks. San Jose State tallied a .201 hitting percentage with 66 kills, 61 assists, six aces, 68 digs and 10 blocks.

Alisha Young, Sadie Maughan, Fiona Jones and Liz Harden each tallied 12 kills on the night to pace the Broncos. Young recorded the only double-double of the match with a career-best 10 blocks.

SJSU was led by Alex Akana with a match-high 16 kills.
