WAC Soccer Players of the Week Announed

DENVER – Louisiana Tech’s Rachel King and Idaho’s Liz Boyden have been named Western Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for the week of Aug. 30 – Sept. 5.

King, a junior forward from O’Fallon, Mo. (Fort Zumwalt West HS), led Louisiana Tech to wins over Grambling State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff and McNeese State last week. King capped off a remarkable scoring week as she recorded her third-career hat trick in a 4-0 win over McNeese State. Her three goals in a game ties the Louisiana Tech school record. Over the three matches, King recorded eight shots on goal and scored six goals to help Tech to the 3-0 record.

Boyden, a junior goalkeeper from Spokane, Wash. (Ferris HS), registered eight saves over the weekend in helping Idaho to a 2-0 record at the Governor’s Cup tournament in Pocatello, Idaho. Boyden earned her sixth career shutout with four stops against Utah Valley on Sunday after holding Idaho State to one goal on Friday.
