WAC Volleyball Player of the Week Announced

DENVER – Idaho sophomore outside hitter Allison Walker has been named Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 2-9. This is the first WAC Player of the Week honor of the season and second of her career for Walker.

The Othello, Wash., native averaged 6.67 kills, 4.83 digs and 6.92 points per set and extended her streak of double-doubles to six as the Vandals swept Eastern Washington and Utah State last week. She opened the week with a season-high 24 kills and matched her career high with 16 digs. It was her third match of the season with 20-plus kills. Walker followed it up with another double-double against defending WAC Tournament champion Utah State, finishing with 16 kills and 12 digs. She has had a double-double in every match since finishing with 19 kills and seven digs against UC Irvine on Sept. 17.

Other nominees included: Fresno State’s Korrin Wild averaged 3.50 kills and 2.30 digs per set as the Bulldogs went 1-1 on the week ... Kanani Danielson of Hawai‘i averaged 3.00 kills and 4.67 digs per set as the Rainbow Wahine swept San Jose State ... Louisiana Tech’s Marcella Braz averaged 3.56 kills on .276 hitting to go with 1.56 digs ... Erin Garvey of Nevada averaged 3.00 kills and 1.17 digs on the week ... New Mexico State’s Meredith Hays averaged 5.10 kills, 2.00 digs and 0.40 service aces as the Aggies went 3-0 on the week.
