Hawai'i Defeats NM State in Five Sets

In front of a nationally televised audience on ESPNU, Hawai'i defeated New Mexico State in a five-set thriller, 17-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-27, 15-5 Thursday. With the win, Hawai'i improves to 16-1 overall and 6-0 in the WAC, while NM State falls to 16-5 overall and 5-1 in conference play.
 
In a very evenly-played match, the Rainbow Wahine out-hit the Aggies .296 to .211. Hawai'i also had more service aces (7-6) and blocks (16.5-8). However, NM State had more kills (65-64) and digs (62-56) than UH.

Kanani Danielson posted 22 kills and 10 digs for her WAC-leading 10th double-double of the season. Jane Croson recorded 17 kills and 12 digs for her eighth double-double of the season. Emily Hartong added 11 kills and Brittany Hewitt had a match-high nine blocks for the Rainbow Wahine.
 
Meredith Hays led New Mexico State with 22 kills, while Jennah DeVries had 48 assists and a match-high 20 digs. Stephanie Ziegler added 14 kills and 12 digs for the Aggies.
