New Mexico State 3, San Jose State 0
New Mexico Stateswept San Jose State (25-14, 25-15, 25-19) at the Pan American Center Saturday. With the win, the Aggies improve to 17-5 overall and 6-1 in WAC play. The Spartans drop to 7-13 on the year and 2-5 in the conference.
The Aggies held the Spartans to a .183 hitting percentage while hitting .392 on the afternoon. NM State also had more kills (48-35), assists (43-33), service aces (5-0), digs (38-30) and blocks (5-2).
Meredith Hays led the way for the Aggies with a match-high 17 kills. Kelsey Brennan added 11 kills on 17 attempts and only one error for a .588 hitting percentage.
San Jose State was led by Savanah Leaf with 10 kills and five digs.
Idaho 3, Fresno State 2
The Vandals came out on top in a five-set match against Fresno State Saturday night with a 25-16, 15-25, 25-21, 19-25, 15-11 win in WAC play. With the win, the Vandals extend their season-high win streak to five matches and improve to 11-9 on the season and 5-2 in WAC play. Fresno State falls to 8-11 on the year and 3-4 in the WAC.
The win was Idaho coach Debbie Buchanan's 174th in her career, all at Idaho, as she ties Tom Hilbert for most wins in program history.
Fresno State out-hit Idaho .165 to .138. The Bulldogs also had more kills (54-45), assists (52-43) digs (71-63) and blocks (10-8) in the losing effort. The Vandals won the service ace battle, 8-6.
Alicia Milo led Idaho with 14 kills and Allison Walker had her eighth consecutive double-double with 11 kills and 13 digs. Jenny Feicht had her sixth double-double of the season with 40 assists and 14 digs, and Cassie Hamilton added 12 digs for Idaho.
Fresno State was paced by Brianna Clarke with 13 kills and Korrin Wild, who tallied 11 kills and 19 digs. Brabara Alcantara also posted a double-double of 48 assists and 12 digs.
Utah State 3, Nevada 0
The Aggies hit a season-high .432 in a sweep of Nevada (25-20, 25-18, 25-18) in WAC action Saturday night. With the win, Utah State improves to 9-11 on the season and 4-3 in WAC play, while Nevada falls to 3-15 overall and 1-6 in league play with the loss.
Utah State out-hit Nevada .432 to .198. USU also had 5.5 more team blocks (9.0-3.5) and five more digs (34-29), while Nevada had one more service ace (2-1) to go along with three more service errors (8-5).
Liz McArthur had 18 kills and hit a career-high .680, while Shay Sorensen had 10 kills, seven digs and three block assists on the match.
Tessa Lea'ea had 10 kills and Kelly Chang posted 12 digs for Nevada.
