WEEK NINE RECAP
Hawai'i defeated Fresno State 3-0 Friday night in a battle of first-place teams and tied San Jose St. 1-1 on Sunday. Those two results allowed the Rainbow Wahine to stay in first place, one point clear of Utah State, who picked up a road win over Nevada on Sunday. Hawai'i has played one more match than the Aggies, but also holds the tiebreaker with a head-to-head victory.

Idaho took an impressive jump in the standings, jumping up to third in the conference with two positive road results. The Vandals tied New Mexico State 1-1 on Friday and defeated Louisiana Tech 1-0 on Sunday.

WIDE OPEN RACE
With every team in the WAC having secured at least one win in conference play, no team has run away from the pack, or been left in the dust. With just two weeks left in the regular season, every team, with some breaks, could still claim first place. Likewise, every team could still be one of the two squads left out of the conference tournament.

NEW LEADERSHIP
With conference leader Hawai'i off all weekend, the WAC will at least have a new co-leader following Friday night's match in Moscow, as second-place Utah State takes on third-place Idaho. The Aggies would take sole possession of first place with a win or move into a tie for first with a draw, while the Vandals will move into a tie atop the standings with a victory.

Based on how the Utah State-Idaho match shakes out, Fresno State, New Mexico State and San Jose State all may be able to claim at least a share of first place with two victories this weekend.

UTAH STATE REGIONALLY-RANKED
Utah State remained in the NSCAA/Adidas West Regional rankings, moving to No. 8, up one spot from last week. Utah State has been regionally ranked for seven-of-nine weeks this season.

Fresno State, which saw its seven-game unbeaten streak end in a 3-0 defeat to conference-leader Hawai'i on Friday night, fell from the rankings, after checking in at No. 7 last week.

ROAD WARRIORS
After WAC teams started the season 10-1 at home in conference games, this weekend saw that trend flipped on it's head, as road teams picked up four results in five matches. Idaho became the first team to gain points in multiple road contests, grabbing a tie at New Mexico State and a victory at Louisiana Tech. Utah State grabbed a victory at Nevada and San Jose State managed a tie at Hawai'i.

The Rainbow Wahine were the only home team to hold serve, defeating Fresno State to finish the conference portion of the season undefeated at home. Fresno State, New Mexico State, Idaho and Utah State are also undefeated at home in conference play so far this season.
For the regular season, every WAC team, except for Nevada, is at least .500 on home soil. Several teams have been especially dominant, as Utah State (7-0-0) and Fresno State (3-0-1) are unbeaten at home, while New Mexico State (6-1-0) and Louisiana Tech (4-1-1) have just one home blemish on the year.
