Hawai'i 3, Utah State 0
Hawai'i swept Utah State (25-16, 25-21, 25-11) in WAC action Friday. With the win, the Rainbow Wahine improve to 20-1 overall and 8-0 in the WAC, while the Aggies drop to 9-13 and 4-5 in the WAC.
Hawai'i out-hit Utah State .144 to -.045. The Rainbow Wahine also had more kills (34-19), assists (27-19), aces (6-3) and blocks (8-6). The Aggies edged Hawai'i in digs (42-40).
Emily Hartong posted a match-high 15 kills to go along with eight digs and four blocks. Jane Croson recorded five kills and a team-high 14 digs, and Kalei Adolpho added five blocks.
Shay Sorensen had a team-high seven kills for Utah State with Laurel Bodily posting 16 digs.
San Jose State 3, Idaho 2
San Jose State had three players post double-doubles in a five-set win over Idaho (25-23, 18-25, 25-18, 19-25, 15-12) in WAC action Friday. With the win, the Spartans improve to 9-13 overall and 4-5 in the WAC. Idaho drops to 11-10 on the season and 5-3 in WAC play.
The Spartans recorded team season-highs in kills (76), attempts (191) and assists (70).
Savanah Leaf led the Spartans with her sixth double-double of the year with a team-best 19 kills and 17 digs. Kylie Miraldi had a hit a team-best .448 with 15 kills on 29 attempts and just two hitting errors. Krista Miller recorded her second double-double of the year with 13 kills and a career-best 20 digs. Caitlin Andrade recorded 62 assists and 11 digs for her fifth double-double of the year and moved to within 20 assists of fifth place on the San Jose State career assist list. She ends the week with 2,528 assists in her third season in a Spartan uniform.
With the two WAC home wins this week, San Jose State has won back-to-back home WAC matches for the first time since the 2007 season when the team defeated Fresno State, Boise State and Idaho.
