MANHATTAN, Kan. - Justin Kadin led four Vandals in the top 10 to lead the University of Idaho men's golf team to a landmark victory at the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate.

Kadin was the definition of steadiness with rounds of 72-72-72-216 to finish at even par and in a tie for second as the Vandals finished at 10-over 874 to win by 12 strokes over Boise State University. Host Kansas State was third at 894. Adding to the championship effort were Jarred Bossio in fourth at two-over 218, Stefan Richardson in fifth at three-over 219 and Gordon Webb in eighth at seven-over 223. Rounding out the Vandal effort was Alex Pounds in 38th at 240.

"We had all the players in the game the entire tournament," coach John Means said. "They were competitive within themselves."

In so doing, Means said the impact on the collective effort was much greater.

"Team golf is a different beast than any other game," Means said. "You take care of yourself and the team falls in place. They understand that now."

Not only did they have to master the course, Means said Kansas-style winds swirled throughout the tournament to add to the challenge of Colbert Golf Club's already narrow fairways.

"They were able to get the ball around the green, chip it close and make putts," Means said. "They handled the wind extremely well."
