Fresno State 83, Santa Clara 71
Fresno State overcame a slow start to defeat Santa Clara 83-71 Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 1-1 on the season.
Fresno State shot 45 percent from the field, 48 percent from three-point range and 69 percent from the free throw line on the game. The Bulldogs also edged the Broncos on the boards, 34-32.
Blakely Goldberg and Ki-Ki Moore combined for 50 of Bulldogs' 83 points. Goldberg recorded a career-high 22 points and a team-high nine rebounds, while Moore scored 27 of her 28 points in the second half.
Nevada 91, St. Martin's 74
Nevada opened the season with a 91-74 win over Saint Martin's Sunday afternoon. The win marks Nevada's sixth straight season-opening victory.
The Wolf Pack shot 39 percent from the field, 29 percent from three-point range and 76 percent from the free throw line on the game. Nevada also won the rebounding battle, 50-38.
Kate Kevorken and Danika Sharp led Nevada, each having career bests with 22 and 21 points, respectively. Kayla Williams chipped in her 14th career double-double, logging 13 points and 12 rebounds.
South Dakota State 84, Utah State
Utah State fell 84-73 at South Dakota State Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Aggies fall to 1-1 on the season.
Utah State shot 36 percent from the field, 18 percent from three-point range and 88 percent from the free throw line on the game. It was out-rebounded 38-28 in the loss.
Ashlee Brown led the way for the Aggies, scoring a career-high 31 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field and 15-for-19 from the free throw line. She added 11 rebounds and six steals.
San Francisco 88, San Jose State 77
Three Spartans scored in double figures and San Jose State forced 35 turnovers, but it wasn't enough as San Jose State fell 88-77 to San Francisco.
The Spartans shot 34 percent from the field, 36 percent from three-point range and 72 percent from the charity stripe on the game. Both teams pulled down 45 boards.
Brittany Johnson and Sara Plavljanin each scored 18 points for the San Jose State Johnson ripped down 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Plavljanin had five of the Spartans' 15 steals and grabbed seven boards. Ta'Rea Cunnigan added 13 points and six rebounds.
