San Jose State 51, UC Irvine 50


San Jose, Calif.-----Keith Shamburger converted two free throws with 6.2 seconds left and San Jose State was the beneficiary of a UC Irvine basket overturned at the buzzer by replay as the Spartans came away with a 51-50 non-conference victory.  Shamburger led San Jose State (1-1) in scoring with 12 points and made all four of his second-half free throws. The Spartans hit their last 12 free throw tries, were 15-of-17 from the free throw line in the last 20 minutes and 16-of-20 for the game.

Hawai‘i 86, Cal State Northridge 67


HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team began the 2011-12 campaign with an impressive 86-67 win over Cal State Northridge Monday night at the Stan Sheriff Center. The Rainbow Warriors led by just three points at halftime, but absolutely dominated after the break to win for the third time in four all-time appearances in ESPN's College Hoops Tipoff Marathon event.

Idaho 77, Concordia 61


MOSCOW, Idaho – Concordia refused to go away, but the University of Idaho men’s basketball team registered its first win of the season on Monday with a 77-61 victory over the Cavaliers at Memorial Gym. “I thought we battled hard,” Idaho head coach Don Verlin said. “All in all, I thought it was a lot of good work after a tough, hard-fought loss a Long Beach State. To come back and play two days later on some tired legs, I thought our guys competed very hard.”

UNLV 71, Nevada 67


LAS VEGAS (AP) - Justin Hawkins had 13 points and Chace Stanback added 12 to lead UNLV to a 71-67 win over Nevada, which nearly rallied from an 18-point second-half deficit with 6:36 left in the game on Monday night. Also for UNLV (2-0), Oscar Bellfield had 11 points as the Rebels have now won six straight in the in-state rivalry.

Stanford 75, Fresno State 59

STANFORD, Calif. - Fresno State went shot-for-shot with Stanford for a half before the Cardinal used a stronger defensive effort after halftime to hand the Bulldogs their first loss of the season 75-59 Monday night in the NIT Season Tip Off. "We played hard, but not hard enough," head coach Rodney Terry said. "We battled, but have to compete at a higher level. We are going to make some adjustments and get back on the floor tomorrow ready to do everything we can to beat SMU."
