WEEK TEN RECAP
Utah State claimed the top spot in the conference race after a 0-0 draw with Fresno State on Sunday. Both Utah State (3-0 over San Jose State) and Fresno State (2-1 over Nevada) won on Friday, leaving the squads separated by just two points going into the final match.
New Mexico State claimed the final spot in the WAC Tournament on Friday. The Aggies defeated Hawai'i 1-0, and then saw Nevada, the only remaining challenger for the final spot, fall later in the evening.
Hawai'i bounced back from the loss to NMSU, defeating Louisiana Tech 1-0 in overtime on Sunday. San Jose State did the same, dropping Nevada 2-0 on Sunday. The Spartans and Rainbow Wahine ended up tied for third in the standings.
TIEBREAKER
UH and SJSU also tied 1-1 earlier in the season, forcing the second tiebreaker to determine who would claim the third seed in the tournament. Due to UH's 3-0 win over Utah State, compared to SJSU's 3-0 loss to the Aggies, the Rainbow Wahine came out on top.
UTAH STATE, FRESNO STATE REGIONALLY-RANKED
Utah State and Fresno State remained in the NSCAA/Adidas West Regional rankings, staying at No. 7 and No. 10, respectively.

HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE
WAC teams were dominant at home this season, as the hosts went 17-7-4 in conference matches.
For the regular season, every WAC team, except for Nevada, was at least .500 on home soil. Several teams were especially dominant, as Utah State (7-0-1) and Fresno State (5-0-2) went unbeaten at home, while New Mexico State (7-1-1) had just one home blemish on the year.
The last weekend of the season didn't go true to form, as home teams only went 2-3-1.

Fresno State Bulldogs (10-4-5, 4-1-2 WAC)
Fresno State defeated Nevda 2-1 on Friday to remain alive for the regular season WAC title, but a 0-0 draw with eventual-champion Utah State left the Bulldogs two points short ... Fresno State still finished second in the WAC, earning a bye into the semifinals at the WAC Tournament ... this is the first time since 2008 that FS has earned a bye in the tournament ... the shutout of Utah State was the Bulldogs' ninth of the season ... last season, the Bulldogs won the WAC Tournament after entering the tournament as the sixth seed ... this week, the Bulldogs will play the winner of the match between No. 3 Hawai'i and No. 6 New Mexico State ...
Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine (5-11-1, 4-2-1 WAC)
Hawai'i lost to New Mexico 1-0 on Friday and defeated Louisiana Tech 1-0 in overtime on Sunday ... the victory over LTU was the first road victory of the year for the Rainbow Wahine ... Hawai'i ended the season tied for third in the conference with San Jose State, but UH's 2-1 victory over Utah State gave UH the tiebreaker and the third seed in the WAC Tournament ... junior goaltender Kanani Taaca gave up just one goal on the weekend in 187 minutes of action ... Hawai'i returns to the WAC Tournament for the first time since 2008 ... the Rainbow Wahine face New Mexico State in the first round of the tournament on Thursday ... the winner of that match will take on second-seeded Fresno State in the semi-finals on Friday.
Idaho Vandals (7-10-3, 3-3-1 WAC)
Idaho finished its regular season with a 1-0 loss to in-state rival Boise State ... Idaho qualified for its second-consecutive WAC Tournament this season and second conference tournament in school history ... with a 3-3-1 WAC record this year and last year's 5-3-0 tally, Idaho posted .500 or better conference records in consecutive seasons for the first time in 14-year program history ... this season, Idaho has used four different goalkeepers because of injury ... last year, Liz Boyden played every minute in goal for Idaho ... this week, Idaho faces No. 4 San Jose State in the first round of the WAC Tournament on Thursday ... the winner of that match will face top-seeded Utah State on Friday.
Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters (8-8-4, 1-6-0 WAC)
Louisiana Tech ended the season with a 1-0 loss to Hawai'i in overtime ... the Lady Techsters ended the season on a six games losing streak ... senior defender Olivia Lukasewich played in her 81st career game, the most in school history... senior defender Scotti Culton bacame the second Lady Techster to play in 80 career games ... Culton and Lukasewich are the first Lady Techster players to play in over 1800 minutes in a season... Culton is the only Tech player to play in over 6,000 minutes in her career with 6,108... the 2011 senior class finished with the most career wins in school history, with 45... sophomore goalkeeper Caitlin Updyke finished season with 74 saves, fourth most in a single season in school history... Updyke's 138 saves are the second most in program history and needs only three more to become the all-time leader... Updyke's 0.89 GAA is the second lowest in Tech history.
Nevada Wolf Pack (3-16-0, 1-6-0 WAC)
Nevada lost 2-1 to Fresno State on Friday and 2-0 to San Jose State on Sunday ... the Wolfpack finished one spot out of the WAC Tournament ... senior defender Annabelle Allen set the career mark for starts at Nevada with 79 ... senior midfielder Ellie Stott scored to give Nevada the lead vs. Fresno State on Friday.
New Mexico State Aggies (9-7-3, 2-3-2 WAC)
New Mexico State defeated Hawai'i 1-0 on Friday, which, combined with a Nevada loss, qualified the Aggies for the WAC Tournament as the sixth seed ... the nine wins this season tie for most in school history ... this is NM State's first appearance in the WAC Tournament under first-year
head coach Blair Quinn, and second time in the program's three year history ... the Aggies are 0-1 in the WAC Tournament ... this week, NMSU plays Hawai'i, the third seed in the tourney, on Thursday ... the Aggies have a 2-0-1 lead in the all-time series ... the winner of the match will face second-seeded Fresno State on Friday.
San Jose State Spartans (6-11-1, 4-2-1 WAC)
San Jose State fell 3-0 to Utah State and defeated Nevada 2-0 on the weekend ... the Spartans finished tied for third in the WAC regualr season, but lost out on the tiebreaker to Hawai'i, earning the No. 4 seed in the WAC Tournament ... 12 different players have scored a goal for the Spartans this season ... the Spartans are 8-9-2 all-time in the WAC Tournament ... San Jose State owns one WAC Tournament title (2000), has twice been the WAC Tournament runner-up (2010, 2005), and has been a semifinalist on six other occasions (2009, '08, 1999, '98, '97, '96) ... in the WAC Tournament, SJSU will face No. 6 New Mexico State on Thursday in the first round of the WAC Tournament ... the winner of that match will meet top-seed Utah State in the semi-finals ... Utah State Aggies (12-4-1, 3-1-0 WAC)
Utah State defeated San Jose State 3-0 on Friday and tied Fresno State 0-0 on Sunday, clinching the WAC regular season title ... the Aggies have won at least five WAC matches every year since the 2005 season ... the 13 wins in the are the most in the regular season in school history ... senior goaltender Molli Merrill gave up no goals in 200 minutes of action on the weekend ... the Aggies gave up just three goals in WAC play this season and have shutout four-straight opponents ...
