DENVER - Nevada's
Kevin Lucas and San Jose State's Madeleine Ziegert have been named the Verizon Western
Athletic Conference Golfers of the Month for November.
Lucas, a senior from Folsom, Calif. (Folsom
HS), captured his first collegiate title at the Pacific Invitational in
Stockton, Calif. Lucas sunk a 12-foot
birdie putt on the final hole to claim medalist honors by one stroke. He finished 6-under par (207--66-71-70) on the
par-71 Brookside Country Club course.
His birdie also gave Nevada a tie for the team title with Oregon State
at 3-over par 855.
Ziegert, a senior from Halmstad, Sweden (Allvar Gullstrand), finished
in a tie for second place at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational played at the
Kopolei Golf Course in Kapolei, Hawai'i.
She opened the tournament with a 3-under 69 and finished at 3-under par
for the three rounds (213--69-71-73).
Ziegert was four strokes behind the winner and was tied with UCLA's
Stephanie Kono who is ranked number one in the nation.
