SAN JOSE STATE’S JOHNSON NAMED WAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
San Jose State senior forward Brittany Johnson has been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for Nov. 28-Dec. 4. This is the first WAC Player of the Week honor of her career for Johnson.

The Tulsa, Okla., native averaged a double-double of 20.5 points and 10.5 rebounds to go along with 3.5 steals and 2.0 blocks per game as the Spartans won a non-conference game for the first time in nearly two years. Johnson opened the week with 17 points, eight rebounds, four blocks and four steals in the win over Northern Arizona. She then picked up her third double-double of the season at Weber State, finishing with 24 points and 13 rebounds. She also had three assists and three steals as she scored in double figures for the eighth time in as many games this year. Johnson has scored at least 20 points in all but two games this season.

Other nominees included: Madison Parrish of Fresno State averaged 12.5 points and 3.5 assists as the Bulldogs went 1-1 on the week ... Hawai‘i’s Kamilah Jackson averaged 15.5 points and 11.0 rebounds as the Rainbow Wahine went 1-1 on their road trip to New York ... Whitney Jones of Louisiana Tech scored 20 points and pulled down a season-high eight rebounds in Tech’s only game last week ... Nevada’s Kayla Williams averaged 15.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game last week ... Devyn Christensen of Utah State averaged 13.0 points, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals in two games last week.

SAN JOSE STATE SNAPS 17-GAME LOSING STREAK
San Jose State defeated Northern Arizona 74-64 on Dec. 1, snapping a 17-game losing streak, dating back to January of last season. It was also the first victory at San Jose State for first-year head coach Tim La Kose.

FRESNO STATE MAKES 17 THREE-POINTERS AGAINST OREGON
The Bulldogs hit 17 three-pointers in a win over Oregon on Dec. 1, falling one shy of their own record of 18 set last year against Idaho. Rosie Moult and Ki-Ki Moore hit five treys apiece, while Madison Parrish was a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc.

WAC STAT LEADERS
San Jose State’s Brittany Johnson currently leads the WAC in scoring with 19.3 points per game. Ashlee Brown of Utah State is tops in rebounding with an average of 10.3 boards. Louisiana Tech’s Shantale Bramble-Donaldson leads the WAC in field goal percentage (.554), while teammate Jasmine Bendolph leads the league in assists (4.38).  Nevada’s Danika Sharp is tops in free throw percentage (1.000), while San Jose State’s Sara Plavljanin and Ta’Rea Cunnigan, and Fresno State’s Rosie Moult are tied for the lead in steals (2.75). Utah State’s Maddy Plunkett is tops in three-point field goal percentage (.529). and Kayla Williams of Nevada leads the WAC in blocked shots (2.0). Taylor Thompson of Fresno State leads the WAC in assist-turnover ratio (2.13), while Moult leads the league with 3.13 three-pointers per game and Plavljanin is tops in minutes played (36.25).
