DENVER – Louisiana Tech senior forward Adrienne Johnson has been named the Verizon Wireless Western Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 7-13. This is the fourth WAC Player of the Week honor of the season for Johnson and the eighth of her career.

A Franklin, La. native, Johnson recorded two double-doubles while leading LA Tech to a pair of wins over New Mexico State, extending the Techsters' winning streak to 11 games. She scored 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in only 24 minutes of action in Tech’s 85-63 win over the Aggies in Ruston. In that game, she passed former Kodak All-American Nora Lewis into 10th place on the LA Tech all-time scoring list. Five days later, Johnson scored 24 points and grabbed a season-high 15 rebounds in an 88-79 win in Las Cruces. With Tech trailing by one at the half, Johnson scored 16 points in the second half to lead Tech to 52 second-half points. For the week, she averaged 20.5 points and 14.0 rebounds while shooting 52 percent (13-of-25) from the field and 94 percent (15-of-16) from the free throw line. The senior now has a WAC-leading 11 double-doubles on the season.

Other nominees included: Jaleesa Ross of Fresno State averaged 22.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game as the Bulldogs went 2-0 on the week ... Nevada’s Tahnee Robinson averaged 25.0 points and 5.0 rebounds as the Wolf Pack went 2-0 on the week … Madison Spence of New Mexico State averaged 21.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game ... Utah State’s Ashlee Brown averaged 16.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game as the Aggies went 1-1 on the week.
